The drawing for these incredible baskets will be held at our Fall Festival on October 21st at 6:30 pm. You do not have to be present to win. Each ticket cost $1.00. Winners may pick up their basket at school.

Number Formation Poem

Here is a cute Monster theme rhyming poster to help the students to remember how to make each number!! If your child is struggling with a certain number, try the rhyme and see if the "little saying" helps your child remember how to correctly form each number.

WTOC Top Teacher

Parents- Please let me take a few minutes to say "Thank you" ! This past Monday, October 3, 2011, Brooke Kelley, from WTOC Channel 11 in Savannah, came to our classroom. I found out that I had been nominated for WTOC Top Teacher. I want each of you to know that I consider it both and honor and privilege to have the opportunity to teach your child. I can honestly say that I love what I do and I look foward to coming to school each and every day to teach your child. Again thank you for allowing me to teach your child and thank you for the honor as being your "Top Teacher!"

M&M Graphing

Today, September 15, 2011, the students had an opportunity to make an M&M graph. The students were first instructed to open their bag of M&M's and sort the M&M's by color. After sorting the M&M's by color, the students were then instructed on how to make a graph out of the colors that they had. Mrs. Wells and Mrs. Judy were there to help the students with being sure that they were graphing correctly. After graphing, they were to then look at their neighbor's graph to see if their neighbor's graph looked the same or different from theirs. They were to discuss their finding with one another. I found it interesting to hear their conversations. After completing the assignment the students were then able to enjoy eating the M&M's. This activity not only helped the students learn to graph, but also helped them to sort and count. This was a hands-on activity that everyone seemed to enjoy.

"Chicka- Chicka Boom- Boom"

After reading the story "Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom," the students had the opportunity to create their own tree and then to pick out the letters of their name and spell it correctly. This was a fun engaging activity for the students. Not only did this activity work on spelling the names correctly it also helped with letter recognition. Be on the lookout for these trees to come home soon. I encourage you to ask your child what his/ her favorite part of this activity was and why.
