On May 18, 2011, our school counselor, Mrs. Quarles came into our classroom to talk about "Summer Safety." While she was talking to us, she gave a few safety tips that we should remember:
Tip 1: Keep the door locked so strangers cannot come into your house. Also, if your parents have given you a key to your house, be sure to keep them in a safe place.
Tip 2: Be sure to know how to use a phone. If you are at home with a sibling and someone gets hurt, be sure to call an adult. If you cannot reach an adult that you know, then dial 911.
It is very important that you know a phone number of at least one adult (parent) as well as to know your home address.
Tip 3: While playing out in the hot sun, be sure to drink a lot of water!
Tip 4: Wear sunblock to protect your skin from a sunburn! If you stay outside for a long period of time, be sure to re-apply your sunblock!
Tip 5: Visit your local library and stay "hooked on reading!" It is very important to be sure that you are reading books in the summer to keep your brain working and thinking. Books are a lot of fun, so "dive right into one" and enjoy all it has to offer you.
Most of all, have a safe and wonderful summer break!!
